What to expect
What happens at an open day
The day runs from mid-morning to mid-afternoon, and you can stay for all of it or drop in for the parts that matter to you. Talks are repeated across the year, so if you miss one there will be another. You are welcome to bring a partner, a parent or a friend — deciding to train part-time over three years is usually a household decision.
Come with questions. The ones we are asked most often are about time commitment, fees and funding, whether a qualification counts as Level 3, how clinical practice is supervised, and what graduates go on to do. All of them are answered honestly, including where the answer is that a programme is demanding, or that the regulatory position in the UK is more complicated than people expect.
Indicative running order
An illustrative shape for the day. Times are indicative and shown as placeholders pending confirmation; the final programme is sent to everyone who registers.
| Time | Session | Where |
|---|---|---|
| [10:00] | Arrival and welcomeTea and coffee, registration, and a short introduction to the college and to the day. | Reception |
| [10:30] | Programme talk: choosing the right pathwayThirty minutes with a programme lead on what each programme covers, who it suits, the commitment involved and what it leads to — followed by questions. | Lecture room |
| [11:15] | Teaching clinic and dispensary tourSmall-group tours of the rooms where supervised clinical practice takes place, and of the herb dispensary — including how herbs are stored, checked and dispensed. | Teaching clinic |
| [12:00] | Practical demonstrationA live demonstration by a tutor — needling technique and point location, herb identification, or Tui Na hand technique — with time for questions afterwards. Places are limited and ticketed on the day. | Practical room |
| [12:45] | Lunch and informal conversationRefreshments provided. Current students and tutors are around for unhurried questions — this is usually the most useful part of the day. | Common room |

| [14:45] | Individual questions and repeat toursOne-to-one time with admissions, and campus tours repeated for anyone who arrived later in the day. | Throughout |
| [15:00] | CloseStaff remain available until [15:30] for anyone still with questions. | Reception |
What to bring
Certificates or transcripts, if you have them to hand — the admissions clinic can check them on the spot. A notebook if you want one, and any questions you have written down beforehand. There is no need to prepare anything else.
Access and adjustments
Step-free access, a quiet space, materials in advance, a BSL interpreter or anything else you need can be arranged if you tell us when you book: [ACCESS ARRANGEMENTS]. See the accessibility policy.

Other ways to visit
Individual visits and online information sessions
Individual campus visit
A weekday appointment, usually about an hour, arranged around teaching so that you see the college in use. You will meet a member of the admissions team and, where timetables allow, the tutor who leads the programme you are considering. We can look at your qualifications and answer questions about fees and study while working.

Online information session
A live session held monthly, lasting about 45 minutes, covering the programmes, how to apply, entry requirements and fees, with an open question session at the end. Recordings are made available to everyone who registers, so a session that clashes with work is not a problem.

A conversation with admissions
If you have one specific question — whether your qualification counts, how the timetable works around shifts, whether a visa route is realistic — ask it directly. A telephone or video call can be arranged without any commitment to apply, and we will tell you honestly if we do not know the answer yet.

Can't attend anything?
There are still ways to decide. Ask us for the open day materials — the programme talk slides and the question sheet — at [MATERIALS LINK]. Request the prospectus. Book a free community consultation to see the teaching clinic in practice as a patient rather than a visitor. Or simply email admissions and describe your situation; we will answer in writing, and you can take your time over it.
The college’s student policies cover attendance, conduct and safeguarding, and the accessibility policy sets out how we make events and teaching accessible.
Booking
Request a place
- Say which date you are interested in, or ask to be notified when the next one is confirmed.
- Tell us which programmes you are considering — it helps us put you with the right tutor.
- Mention any access requirements or adjustments you need on the day.
- If you are travelling from outside the UK, tell us your time zone and we will suggest an online session instead.
Online booking is not yet connected
There is no automated booking system on this website yet — booking opens at [BOOKING LINK] when the calendar is confirmed. In the meantime the form sends your request to the admissions team by email, and we will confirm your place by reply.
Come and see the college
If none of the dates work, tell us. We would rather arrange a weekday visit or an online conversation than have you decide without seeing the place.
