Locations & how to find us

地点与交通

Three teaching sites and one online provision. Each site has its own opening hours and its own pattern of free community consultations, so it is worth checking before you travel.

Before you travel

Our sites

The college teaches in London, Birmingham and Manchester, and delivers theory teaching and public lectures online. Clinical services run only at the physical sites.

Every site is a teaching centre first. That shapes what happens there: appointments are longer than in a private clinic, [CONFIRM: which rooms are open to the public at each site], and some services run only on teaching days.

If you are visiting for a free community consultation, check the consultation days below and book in advance — we cannot see anyone without an appointment, and turning up without one usually means a wasted journey.

Online

SCMAT UK Online

Our online provision: live teaching, recorded lectures and mentoring for students across the UK.

How it is delivered
Delivered live via video conferenceRecordings available to enrolled students
When sessions run
Sessions scheduled in the evenings and at weekends to suit working students
Clinical consultations online
We do not offer clinical consultations online. Diagnosis and treatment in Chinese medicine require in-person assessment.
What you need
You will need a reliable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone.

Why we do not consult remotely

Assessment in Chinese medicine depends on observation — the tongue, the pulse, the way somebody moves and speaks. None of those can be read reliably through a screen, so we do not offer clinical consultations online, and we would be sceptical of anyone who does. Free consultations are in person only. Online provision is teaching, lectures and student mentoring.

No map: this provision is online

Live teaching and lectures are delivered by video conference. Joining instructions will be published here. [CONFIRM: platform, joining link and access arrangements]

Clinical consultations are not offered online. Assessment in Chinese medicine requires in-person observation of the person.

Public lectures are listed on the events page, with registration details for each.

Choosing a site

Which location should I choose?

Four questions, four answers. If your situation is not covered, ask us and we will tell you honestly which site is worth the journey.
  • I want the fullest range of services

London. The main campus holds the teaching clinic, the herb dispensary, the library and the public lecture programme, and it runs the most consultation sessions.

    London details

  • I am in the Midlands

Birmingham. A regional teaching centre with a community consultation clinic and evening public classes, and usually a shorter wait than London.

    Birmingham details

  • I am in the north of England

Manchester. Our northern base for short courses, CPD and workplace programmes, with consultations on advertised weekends.

    Manchester details

  • I cannot travel, or I am outside the UK

Online, for teaching, lectures and mentoring. We do not offer clinical consultations online, so if you need an assessment, you will need to attend a site in person.

Waiting lists differ by site

Free consultation appointments are limited by the number of supervised students in clinic at each site, so waiting times vary. If you can travel to more than one location, say so when you book and we will offer you the earliest appointment available anywhere. Book a free consultation.

No clinical consultations online

Online provision covers teaching, public lectures and student mentoring only. We do not diagnose or treat at a distance, because assessment in this tradition requires the practitioner to see and examine the person. If you need a consultation, please choose one of the three sites above.

Still not sure where to go?

Send us a short enquiry with your postcode area and what you need, and the college office will tell you which site is sensible — or whether the honest answer is that none of them is close enough to be worth the journey.
